Consulting for the Medical Industry
NEi Software's consulting team offers expertise in the FEA simulation
of intraocular lenses (IOL) and their implantation, through working
with a wide range of industrial and research organizations.
A lens analysis typically requires special attention paid to the solid
modeling used to create the part with its subtle shapes. NEi Software
is highly experienced in working with clients to repair geometry or
to produce the CAD data with the objective of ensuring that a high quality
finite element mesh is produced. The lens is usually highly flexible
and will be pushed or supported by surrounding media. It is important
to include geometric nonlinearity and 3D contact in this type of problem.
NEi Nastran performs exceptionally well in simulating the "snap
through" effect shown by many flexible lenses.
NEi Software is also working with manufacturers to study the movement
and mechanical performance of a variety of orthopedic implant devices,
including spinal screws and stabilizing structure. Again the emphasis
is on highly detailed, accurate 3D models. Full support is given for
importing stereo images to provide the basis of the 3D model. The models
have the full range of nonlinearity for large deformation, pre-load,
3D contact and plastic material behavior. In addition general 3D anisotropy
can be used to model bone like structures.
