Class DescriptionsThese classes are presented in an informal way with the emphasis towards maximizing the hands on experience for the student. Many sample model set up, analysis and results processing examples are presented live by the tutor for the class to learn from discuss and investigate. In addition examples are provided for the students to practice and gain confidence in the methods. These are increasingly challenging as the class proceeds. Many students work with the tutor to create sample analyses that are relevant to their particular industry segment or working practice. This is highly encouraged, as is bringing example problems to class. The objective of these classes is to provide the student with the skills to be able to interpret the engineering problem, identify the required analysis process clearly, and use NEi Software, Inc. tools to carry it out and finally to critically review the results.
Basic Femap Basic FemapAn introduction to the use of Femap. Students are taught how to construct analysis models in Femap. Special topics include, mesh and geometry repair, and a variety of modeling techniques. Prerequisites: None Composites AnalysisDiscussion of the composite structures analysis capabilities in Nastran. Topics include orthotropic and anisotropic material types. Discussions include the use of 2-D laminate elements, and the construction of 3-D solid models. Prerequisites: Basic Femap and Nastran Dynamic AnalysisAdvanced discussion of the use of dynamic analysis. Topics include frequency, transient, and random response analysis. Students are taught how to setup the various inputs and interpret the results. Prerequisites: Proficiency in the use of Femap and basic Nastran knowledge Fatigue AnalysisAn introduction to fatigue analysis and the use of the WinLIFE program to generate loading spectra, material SN curves and evaluate fatigue lives. Prerequisites: Proficiency in the use of Femap and basic Nastran knowledge Femap APIAdvanced discussion of Femap Application Programming Interface. Learn how to streamline laborious processes with: automated geometry and model creation; bolt and spot weld strength analysis; enhanced layer and group manipulation; automated interface with MS EXCEL; enhanced composite layup schedule entry; creation of stand-alone FE based programs for use throughout organization; custom optimization programs; automated results analysis and transfer to MS Word or EXCEL. Prerequisites: Proficiency in Visual Basic Heat Transfer AnalysisAdvanced discussion of the thermal analysis capabilities in Nastran. Topics include steady state heat transfer, and nonlinear transient heat transfer. Discussions include the necessary material data, and the ability to specify temperature dependent material data. Prerequisites: Proficiency in the use of Femap, and basic Nastran knowledge Integrated NEi Nastran/FemapThis is the perfect class for newcomers to FE analysis. A very practical approach is taken from the outset. Students will be shown demonstrations of how to set up, analyze and investigate typical structures. Intensive workshop periods then follow to put this new knowledge into practice. The important features of the Femap GUI are introduced in a logical and informative manner. At the same time the essentials of Nastran are explored so that students can learn the basics of the Nastran analysis and file structure. Emphasis during the class is on the construction of proper analysis models, and the effective use of the various solution types. Additional troubleshooting techniques are discussed, as well as the various types of common error messages generated by NEi Nastran. The objective of this class is to give a solid grounding in FEA basics and good practice to enable the student to carry out real world linear static analysis. Prerequisites: None NEi ExplicitAn introduction to highly nonlinear, contact/impact analysis using NEi Explicit solver to create simulations with motion, impact and large deformations. Prerequisites: Proficiency in the use of Femap and basic Nastran knowledge NEi Fusion/NEi Works*This online class is intended to be a quick start training class for NEi Fusion or NEi Works. It covers different strategies for modeling such as when to use shell elements vs. solid elements. It also covers the basic analysis capabilities such as Linear Static Analysis for stress, Normal Modes Analysis for finding natural frequencies, and Buckling Analysis. You will also learn about more unique element capabilities such as rigid elements and composites, as well as more advanced capabilities like Nonlinear Analysis, Dynamic Analysis, and Heat Transfer. Prerequisites: None Nonlinear AnalysisAdvanced discussion of the use of nonlinear analysis. Material and geometric (large displacement and contact) nonlinearities are discussed. Students learn when to use nonlinear analysis, and how to troubleshoot the models. Prerequisites: Basic Nastran and Femap Shock and Vibration/DDAM AnalysisAdvanced discussion of dynamics as applied to shock and vibration. Will discuss modal analysis, modal significance, response spectrum analysis, harmonic analysis, transient analysis and DDAM and how each of these are applied to shock and vibration analyses. Will discuss modeling issues specific to these types of analyses and things to look for when checking and debugging these models. Prerequisites: Proficiency in the use of Femap and basic Nastran knowledge *NEi Fusion/NEi Works classes are conducted online. |
