Twisted Cable - Nonlinear Contact Analysis

A twisted cable consisting of 25 individual strands was modeled to determine the load and stress distribution within the cable. The model was setup as a nonlinear static analysis with an enforced displacement to stretch the cable by 0.4%. The model consisted of 280,000 HEX elements for a total of 1 million degrees of freedom (DOF).

A nonlinear transient analysis of a gear pair subjected to a torque load with surface contact.

Rivet Pull Through

A rivet is pulled through a fitting using a nonlinear transient analysis with large displacements and rotations and surface contact.

Nonlinear Static Analysis – Buttress

A nonlinear static analysis of a spinal implant screw involving surface contact with friction and large displacements and rotations. The analysis is highly challenging as the contact involves a large sliding motion with an increasing contact force.

Nonlinear Static Analysis – Nonlinear Coil

A sheet metal coil is formed using surface contact interaction. This is a large strain analysis using a nonlinear elastic material with a user defined stress-strain curve. Also, the surface contact on the sheet metal is defined both on the inside (roller) as well as the outside (the top of the structure).

Impact Analysis – Board/Membrane

A nonlinear transient analysis of a board impacting a thin membrane using surface contact.
